How to Display a Military Flag
Displaying a flag carries real meaning in the United States, and a few basic rules of etiquette help you do it with respect.
- Never fly a military flag, or any other flag, above the U.S. flag.
- The U.S. flag holds the position of honor at its own right (the viewer’s left); no other flag should be placed to its right.
- When flown together, no other flag should be larger than the U.S. flag.
- On designated days of remembrance, lower the flag to half-staff as directed by the half-staff calendar or by proclamation of the President or your state’s Governor.
